Create Project

Projects are the top-level container in ApProsal. Use them to group sketches, invite teammates, and manage integrations via project-specific API keys.

Projects Screen Overview

The Projects screen is your starting point. From here you can create new projects, open an existing project to manage its sketches, and access project settings such as the display name and API key.

Left Sidebar

  • The Projects list appears on the left sidebar.
  • If no project is currently selected, you’ll see Select a project.
  • When a project is selected, its name is shown at the top of the sidebar.
  • Click the current project name to expand and switch to another project.

Main Projects Area

The main area lists all projects you have access to. Each card represents a project. From here you can:

  • Use + Create New Project to add a new project.
  • Click an existing project card to open that project’s sketches.

Creating a New Project

Use + Create New Project whenever you start work for a new client, assignment, or appraisal.

  1. 1. Open the Projects screen.
Navigate to the Projects screen from the main menu.
  2. 2. Click “+ Create New Project”.
A sidebar on the right will slide in with a simple project form.
  3. 3. Enter the project name.
Type a clear, descriptive name (for example: “District 504 appraisals”).
  4. 4. Click Save.
    After saving:
    • The new project is created.
    • It appears in the project list on the main Projects screen.
    • It also shows up in the left sidebar projects list.
  5. 5. Open the project.
Click the project in the main list to open it. You’ll be taken to that project’s Sketches view, where you can create, edit, and manage sketches.

Tip

You can create as many projects as you need. Keep naming consistent (e.g., Address – Client – Year) to make it easier to find projects later.

Opening a Project & Managing Sketches

Once a project is created, you’ll mostly work inside that project’s Sketches area.

  1. 1. Select a project from the sidebar.
Click the current project name on the left sidebar to expand the list, then choose another project if needed.
  2. 2. Click the project card.
On the Projects screen, click any project to enter it.
  3. 3. Manage sketches.
    Inside the project, you can:
    • Create new sketches.
    • Edit or delete existing sketches.
    • View all sketches for the selected project.

Project Settings & API Key

Project settings allow you to rename the project and manage the project-level API key used for integrations.

Editing the Project Name

  1. Go to the project you want to edit.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Settings.
  3. In the Project Name field, enter the new name.
  4. Click Save to apply your changes.

Managing the Project API Key

Each project has its own API key, visible on the Settings screen.

  1. Open the project, then click Settings in the sidebar.
  2. Locate the API Key section — this shows the current key for the project.
  3. To generate a new key, click Generate New API Key.

Regenerating an API key will invalidate the old one. Be sure to update any external integrations that rely on this key.
